Stella Sidewalk Sale a Smashing Success on Central Street

Central Street was abuzz with energy, the weather was perfect for outdoor shopping (most of the time), and fantastic deals were grabbed left and right during Stella’s annual sidewalk sale.
It was crazy busy at our small store, and we want to thank all our customers for their continued support.

Stella-Sponsored Show at Wilmette Theatre a Sight to See

Stella Boutique last week sponsored Ladies Night Out: The Secret Lives of Moms at the Wilmette Theatre. It was hilarious, entertaining, inspiring and fabulous: It was truly a spectacular show!
Hosted by Chicago comedienne Patti Vasquez, it starred and was created by Carole Dibo, Mary Beth Dolan, Carol Moss, Becca Noyes, Stephanie Rogers and Stella’s own, Nili Yelin, who did a hilarious stand-up routine.

There was amazing singing, piano playing and comedy bits. Yelin’s daughter, Emily, and Moss’ daughter Emma, took the stage and sang an amazing rendition of “Mama, I’m a Big Girl Now” from “Hairspray.” Stella raffled off some wonderful prizes to the crowd and there was a special appearance by Aunt Lola, whom you might have met at a past Stella Retail Therapy event.
Also present in the audience, and for a bit on stage, was actor Tim Kazurinsky (remember him from Saturday Night Live?) and screenwriter Dana Olsen (The ‘Burbs, among others), who are planning their own Secret Lives of Dads night at the Wilmette Theatre.
Stella wants to say thank you for all who came out to support us and enjoy the show. Keep an eye out for more great Stella-sponsored events.

Bradstreet’s BROAD STREET Featured on Central Street

Stella is unique, as is our jewelry, so Sara Bradstreet’s designs fit right in. As a result, Stella hosted an exclusive, week-long trunk show of BROAD STREET Jewelry from May 1 to 8 that marries the past with the present in vintage style.

Bradstreet is a one-of-a-kind designer who creates one-of-a-kind BROAD STREET Jewelry for the fashionable and environmentally conscious woman. These statement pieces are composed entirely of vintage findings and hand-crafted in a sustainable and earth-friendly manner.
BROAD STREET pays homage to old world glamour with just a touch of whimsy.

“It all started with an impulsive collection of vintage jewelry,” said Sara. “I instinctively hoarded ‘Grandma’s old jewelry’ as though I were saving it from further abuse of sitting vacant on the sales counter under the florescent lights at the local thrift. It was as though a moment’s stay in my jewelry box resurrected something within me, a need to celebrate the lost lives in the donated jewelry and reclaim the eclectic combinations of the ‘junk’ that was now accumulating in my life.

“There was something else happening in the jewelry box, though; a layered composition of silver and gold chains, butterflies and rhinestones, enamel and filagree flowers laying upon each other in an assemblage of vintage findings. I began to play with compositions, themes and notions within each piece, assembling the individual findings together to tell a story, to invoke feelings and ideas.
“Years later, I work in one of a kind.”

Bradstreet will be on hand at Stella on Thursday, May 6 from 2 to 6 p.m. to talk to clients about her special vintage style, and custom design is available: Your inherited heirlooms can be reworked into assemblages of vintage lore.
“Each piece is unique as each woman who is drawn to the assemblage of disguarded amulets of history,” said Sara. “And in a world that is tarnished with waste and debris, how artfully green it can be to salvage someone’s trash and transform it into treasure.”

Retail Therapy was a Smashing Success ~ Thanks To You!

Stella was busy throughout the entire event!
A big THANK YOU! to all of our fantastic guests who came out to Stella’s fabulous Retail Therapy event last Thursday. Customers who attended our after-hours party enjoyed drinks, food and great discounts; Stella and company enjoyed a lovely crowd and a wonderfully successful night. Our customers are absolutely the best!
There were libations for the guests, though it was still BYOBB (bring your own baby bottle).

Those of you who attended Retail Therapy night might have met Stella employee Sara Bradstreet (below).
